Shreveport Police responded to a rolling shootout on July 4th, that left one person dead, and three others injured.  The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office has named the victim in the shooting as former Evangel football star Orlando Puryear, Jr. 24 of Shreveport.  Puryear died at Ochsner LSU Hospital at 3:54P, just over an hour after being shot at Jewella and Amelia Avenues.

Puryear played wide receiver for Evangel Christian Academy High School, and was considered a top prospect during his senior year of 2017.  School Chancellor Denny Duron said Puryear was instrumental in their 2016 National Championship campaign. Duron told KEEL News:

We are all just heartbroken over losing him… He was an important part of our state championship team in 2016… We all had high hopes for him.

Puryear was positively identified after the shooting through fingerprint comparison. An autopsy has been ordered.  The shooting is still under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.  The slaying marks the 34th homicide in Caddo Parish in 2022.  Please contact the Shreveport Police Department with questions or information at 318 673-7300, or Crime Stoppers at 318 673-7373

The following mugshots are those who were booked in to Caddo Correctional Center through the dates of 6/10/22-6/12/22. Some of these individuals have already been released, and some have yet to face trial. Those who have not been to trial for their alleged crimes are considered innocent until proven guilty.
