Rockford man identified as fatal crash victim over the weekend

ROCKTON — A 25-year-old Rockford man killed in a car crash Sunday night has been identified as Tristan Clay.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office was notified about the deadly crash around 11:20 p.m. at North Meridian and Freeport roads.

Clay was pronounced deceased at the scene, authorities said.

Preliminary results of an autopsy performed Wednesday showed Clay died from blunt trauma of the head due to the motor vehicle crash.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
