OFFICERS TELL US THEY WERE CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION NEARBY WHEN THE PERSON WENT INTO THE HARDWARE STORE. THAT SUSPECT IS NOW IN CUSTODY AND THE SCENE

An armed suspect was arrested after running away from police Wednesday afternoon.Greensboro police officers said that they were conducting an investigation in the area when Rayvon Juriel Barrett, 23, ran into a Lowe's Home Improvement on East Cone Boulevard.He entered the store while carrying a Glock 19 extended magazine handgun.Prosecutors said that he did it "for the purpose of terrifying others."Barret was then taken into custody and has been charged with the following: Possession of firearm by a felon Possession of a stolen firearmGoing armed to the terror of the peopleResisting, delaying or obstructing an officer Carrying a concealed weaponPolice said that no one was hurt and no shots were fired. He appeared in court on Thursday.

An armed suspect was arrested after running away from police Wednesday afternoon.

He entered the store while carrying a Glock 19 extended magazine handgun.

Prosecutors said that he did it "for the purpose of terrifying others."

Barret was then taken into custody and has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of firearm by a felon
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Going armed to the terror of the people
  • Resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

Police said that no one was hurt and no shots were fired.

He appeared in court on Thursday.
