FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A woman died at the hospital after crashing into a tree in Franklin County on Wednesday morning, according to police.
Virginia State Police say the single-vehicle crash took place shortly before 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6 on Jubal Early Highway, just south of Silver Lake Road.
According to authorities, a 2016 Honda Civic was heading north on Jubal Early Highway, ran off the right side of the road, and hit a tree.
The driver of the Honda — identified by officials as 45-year-old Erin Sheree Jones of Wirtz — was not wearing her seatbelt and was injured during the crash. She was then brought to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
As of this writing, police say they are still investigating this deadly wreck.
