Pat McAfee donated more than $230,000 worth of athletic equipment and supplies to his alma mater.

Plum Borough School District has accepted more than $230,000 worth of athletic equipment and supplies donated by alumnus Pat McAfee.

“Pat has been a tremendous friend to our athletic programs, both on and off the playing surface,” according to a statement issued by the district. “His willingness to remain connected to his alma mater and the student-athletes he cares so much for is deeply appreciated.”

The 2005 Plum Senior High School graduate went on to gain recognition as a kicker and punter at West Virginia and rose to stardom with the National Football League’s Indianapolis Colts, from which he retired in 2017. He was selected to the Pro Bowl twice and was an All-Pro in 2014.

McAfee has remained active in supporting his hometown. Last year, he donated nearly $36,000 to a GoFundMe effort benefiting longtime Plum bowling alley Nesbit’s Lanes, which had faced financial adversity because of the covid-19 pandemic.

“Nesbit’s is a staple of the Plum community,” McAfee told the Tribune-Review via email at the time. “I’ve had the privilege of bowling there, hanging out there, and using their parking lot in times of need in high school.”
