Montgomery father charged in blunt force trauma death of 2-year-old son

A 32-year-old Montgomery man has been charged in the death of his young son.

Lauren Calvin Haggard is charged with capital murder in the death of 2-year-old Lauren Calvin Haggard Jr.

Montgomery police Capt. Saba Coleman said police and fire medics responded about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 3600 block of Berkley. According to court records, the unresponsive child was taken to Baptist South Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3 p.m.

Charging documents against Haggard state the child died from blunt force trauma. According to the affidavit, the fatal injuries happened between Friday and Tuesday.

Haggard Sr. was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility Tuesday. He is being held without bond.
