Guided by their family experience, Curie and JP Gooden founded Getanicki, an errand-running service that specializes in personalized and locally curated convenience, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

For the couple, fulfilling requests for a favorite treat or a hard-sought ingredient is something that goes hand in hand with visiting family.

“We’re all in close proximity,” said Curie, a first-generation Filipino American. “I think our families have built it this way so that no matter what they need, they have access to it by geography.”

Meanwhile, JP, whose parents emigrated from Jamaica, always made sure to send his father Jamaican foods he could not easily get in Seattle.

It was this close-knit network of families helping each other on-demand that led them to create Getanicki. They launched the business in May 2021, offering a more customized experience compared to larger on-demand delivery services.

“We’re just as fast as them, we’re just as responsive, but we know our customers,” said Curie. “There is nothing we can’t do. We fill in the blanks that these other apps are lacking.”

They offer a variety of services including grocery shopping, making party favors, meal prep, and much more.
