ANN ARBOR, MI -- After a pandemic-related delay, Evergreen Restaurant is set to open its new location in downtown Ann Arbor.
Evergreen Restaurant, which has a flagship location at 2771 Plymouth Road, will be opening its new location at 208 W. Liberty St. on Friday, July 8. The location previously housed Chow Asian Street Food.
Although it was originally slated to open in October 2021, opening of the restaurant was delayed due to the pandemic, said Lin Zsu, a spokesperson for the restaurant.
“Every single part took a lot longer than we thought,” Zsu said.
Friday’s opening will be a soft launch with reduced hours, with a grand opening planned for early August. In addition to both restaurants, Evergreen also has a virtual vegetarian kitchen and a catering company. The new location also expands the restaurant’s delivery radius, according to previous reporting.
The restaurant will have a limited menu compared to the Plymouth location and will offer roughly 40 to 50 dishes. Menu items include Szechuan green beans, chopped pepper fish, ginger garlic eggplant and General Tsou’s cauliflower. The menu also features seven “special” pots, a stir fry dish meant to be shared, in combinations featuring a variety of different proteins and vegetables.
Evergreen Restaurant has plans to eventually add alcoholic drinks to the menu, including Chinese and Japanese beers and a sparkling sake.
Rather than have separate menu section for authentic and American-Chinese dishes, the menu will combine the two, Zsu said, in a move staff hopes will inspire visitors to expand their palate.
“We’re trying to encourage people to try more authentic Chinese food,” she said.
Evergreen Restaurant, 208 W. Liberty St. in Ann Arbor, will be open for dine-in from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Delivery will be available starting at 11:30 a.m. and running until close. Hours are set to expand after the grand opening.
