Summer deadlines near for village, IPPD boards

In Nebraska, there are several elected offices with filing deadlines near for offices to be filled in November which were not part of the Primary Election.
In Chase County, those upcoming deadlines apply for village of Wauneta and Lamar races, as well as three seats on the Imperial Public Power Board.
Seats on the Educational Service Units 15 and 16 boards will also be elected in November, and those filings deadlines are also nearing.
Filing deadlines are July 15 for incumbents. Those currently not holding an elected position have until Aug. 1.
In Wauneta, three village trustee seats are up for election. Incumbents for the 4-year terms are Page Johnston, Beau Kramer and Crystal Walgren.
The village of Lamar will also fill three trustees on its board. Incumbents were Kurt Schueler, Kristin Schueler and Rodd Wiest. The Schuelers have moved from Lamar, but at a recent board meeting, Brenda Patten and Victoria Patten were appointed to the board to replace them, so they would be considered incumbents now, according to County Clerk Debbie Clark. Terms are four years.
In Imperial, two 6-year terms and one 2-year term on the IPPD board will be filled at the November election. Eric Exum and Russ Pankonin are the incumbents for the 6-year terms. Dan Russell holds the current 2-year term.
Educational Service Unit #15, which serves Chase County, has two seats to fill by voters in Chase County. Terms now held by Cheri Burke of Imperial, District 1, and Allison Sandman of Wauneta, District 3, will be filled.
Of this group, candidates seeking village board seats in Wauneta and Lamar can file at the Chase County Clerk’s office. Other office-seekers must file with the Secretary of State.
The fall General Election is Nov. 8.
