McEver Road United Methodist Church welcomes new senior pastor

McEver Road United Methodist Church, in Oakwood, will welcome a new Senior Pastor Sunday, July 10, for the first time in 11 years.

According to a press release from McEver Road UMC, Reverend Tyler Jackson will take over from Reverend Dr. Rob Bruce who has been transferred to Watkinsville First UMC in Watkinsville, Georgia.

Reverend Jackson previously served at Mountain Park UMC in Lilburn where he had been the Associate Pastor for six years.  He graduated from The University of Georgia in 2010 and earned his Master of Divinity from Emory University's Candler School of Theology in 2014.  In 2019 he became ordained as an Elder in connection with the United Methodist Church.

Jackson is focused on the community and passionate about helping others experience a relationship with God.  One of his favorite passages is Romans 8:31-39 which inspires him to live his faith.  His wife Natalie, is a professional photographer specializing in family, newborn, and maternal photography. They have three children.  Jackson likes to spend his free time with his wife and children.  He also enjoys reading, watching his favorite shows, listening to podcasts and finding new ways to channel his creativity.  His latest creative endeavor involves live streaming in a variety of ways through Twitch and Facebook.
