Technology has been a game changer in so many aspects of life, often making things faster or easier. Richmond-based Babylon Micro-Farms is now harnessing technology to simplify and better control the growing process for food. For Commonwealth Senior Living at Kilmarnock (CSL) dining services director Andre Smith, it means being able to grow greens and herbs with minimal extra effort and cooking with the freshest possible ingredients.
For residents, it means the opportunity to eat better tasting foods with more nutritional value.
As part of CSL’s Farm to Table program that launched six years ago, Smith has worked with Produce Source Partners to source produce, dairy and proteins from Virginia farmers “typically within a 65 mile radius,” Smith said.
