Family's pet dog perishes in early-morning Happy Valley house fire

HAPPY VALLEY, Calif. —
A family pet perished in an early-morning fire at an Anderson-area home on Wednesday.

Residents were forced to evacuate their home after a fire ignited in their living room, according to fire officials at the scene.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. off Hawthorne Avenue and Robin Linda Lane in Happy Valley.
Cal Fire, the Happy Valley Volunteer Fire Department and the Shasta County Fire Department responded to the scene.
Officials were able to evacuate the residents from the home safely, but they said one of the family's pets, a dog, died in the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
