1 Injured in Traffic Accident on La Mancha Way, 1 Arrested

SACRAMENTO, CA (July 6, 2022) – On Saturday, officials arrested 31-year-old Jermerl Smith following a hit-and-run near La Mancha Way.

The crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. at the 7000 block of La Mancha Way, per initial reports.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Smith had driven his vehicle into the side of the Sacramento Hindu Temple for reasons currently unknown.

Consequently, Smith tried to flee after the collision but officials were able to bring him into custody shortly after.

Responding paramedics took one person from inside the temple to a nearby hospital for further treatment, luckily the man only sustained minor injuries.

The CHP officials currently withheld the name of the injured person at this time. Meanwhile, authorities arrested Smith on suspicion of a felony hit and run.

Officers also believed that speed was a factor in the collision, however, they will continue to investigate and will release updates once available.
