Obituary
Soloman Stellfox, Jr., 89, of Desoto, Texas, and formerly of South Renovo, died following a short illness on July 2, 2022, with family by his side.
Born in Pottsville, Pa., on Nov. 27, 1932, he was the son of Soloman Stellfox and Clara Bertha (Rodgers) Stellfox and moved with the family to the lower end of South Renovo in 1938, where the Stellfox Pond Scenic Trail and Natural Area is currently located.
He was an avid hiker, accomplished woodsman/hunter, and nature lover throughout his life and took up nature photography in his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joanne Francis (Desmond) Stellfox.
He is survived by six children, Barbara Greene of Lock Haven, Pa; Mary “Betsy” Eberly of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Robert Stellfox, of Jersey Shore, Pa.; Stephen Stellfox, of Chapin, S.C.; David Stellfox of Catawissa, Pa.; and Karen Stellfox, of Harrisburg, Pa. Also surviving is a beloved step-granddaughter, Kaitlin Michelle Lovell, of Rhome, Texas; a sister, Thelma “Boots” Weigand, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A private memorial is being planned by the family.
