West Virginia State Police have identified the suspect who they said fled in a stolen vehicle following a crash and was shot and killed by officers after a brief standoff when he was waving a handgun.
Matthew Scott Jones, 36, of Culpeper, Va., is the suspect who died in the incident Wednesday that ended on Route 19 in Bradley, State Police said.
State Police said the investigation into the matter continues.

West Virginia State Police said a suspect who fled in a stolen vehicle following a crash in Raleigh County was shot and killed by officers after a brief standoff when he was waving a handgun.
State Police said in a news release initial calls about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday indicated an armed suspect fled from a crash scene off of Dry Hill Road. Troopers said the suspect then stole a truck and fled in an unknown direction.
A short time later, the suspect was found at Big Lots near the Raleigh Mall in a stolen vehicle, State Police said.
The suspect refused to stop and a pursuit traveled into Fayette County and back into the Bradley area of Raleigh County.
State Police said the pursuit ended when the vehicle became disabled off of Route 19 in Bradley.
The suspect left the vehicle and was engaged by law enforcement officers. During a short standoff, the suspect waved a handgun and the suspect was shot and killed by officers, State Police said.
The investigation into the incident continues.

West Virginia State Police said a person has been shot by police in Raleigh County.
The incident occurred in the Beckley area near Route 19 and the Crossroads Mall, State Police said Wednesday.
The condition of the person who was shot was not immediately available.
