Wendell Foster is hosting its Fourth Annual First Responders BBQ at the agency’s Sensory Park from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 21. The lunch was created to honor local first responders, all of which are invited to the cookout. The event will also include snow cones, yard games, and a complimentary car wash by Wendell Foster’s Aktion Club.

In 2021, the cookout returned after a 1-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wendell Foster CEO Doug Hoyt highlighted the importance of this event in the Owensboro community.

“The First Responders BBQ is one way for Wendell Foster to say ‘thank you’ to all of those serving our community as first responders,” Hoyt said. “Their dedication is incredible and serving them lunch is a small token of our appreciation for their service and sacrifice.”

First responders will have the opportunity to interact with Wendell Foster staff and care recipients, as well as other first responders they may typically only see on a work-related basis.

“We are excited to bring together local first responders to provide fellowship for the people that work so diligently toward the safety of our community,” said Kara Howard, Vice President of Development and Community Engagement at Wendell Foster.
