Man arrested for boating under the influence

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- A South Haven man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly boating under the influence of alcohol on the Black River, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.

Marine deputies were on patrol on Saturday when they stopped a 2021 Chaparral pleasure craft for operating with dock lights on, which made it difficult to see the red and green navigational lights.

There were nine people on the boat at the time of the stop, deputies said.

The person operating the boat is facing a charge of operating a vessel while intoxicated.

The suspect's name is being withheld pending arraignment.
