RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Thursday night into Friday morning across Central Virginia calls for partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies overnight and temperatures dipping down to near 40 degrees in Metro Richmond, which means outlying locations may fall into the middle to upper 30s by the time we get to the daybreak hours on our Friday.

Friday’s forecast to end out this current work and school week, calls for partly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures rising to 65 to 70 degrees, so slightly below average for late April standards.

Saturday’s forecast to begin our upcoming weekend calls for a weak weather system sweeping through and bringing the possibility of a shower or two to areas especially to the northwest of Metro Richmond.

Aside from the possible shower or two during the day on our Saturday, we will see mostly cloudy skies and afternoon temperatures rising to 65 to 70 degrees.

Sunday’s forecast brings the beginning of a significant warming trend for us here in Virginia, as an upper-level ridging pattern sets up along the eastern third of the United States heading into the final days of April.

With that being said, Sunday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures, on the toasty side, will be rising to 80 to 85 degrees.

Next Monday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and very warm to hot afternoon temperatures, rising to 85 to 90 degrees.

Next Tuesday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies, very warm to hot afternoon temperatures, rising to 85 to 90 degrees and afternoon isolated thunderstorms possible.

Next Wednesday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and very warm afternoon temperatures, rising to around 85 degrees.

Next Thursday’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, warm afternoon temperatures, rising into the lower 80s and afternoon scattered thunderstorms possible.

One very important message I want to convey here during this toasty stretch of weather expected from Sunday through Thursday, is always check your back seat in your vehicle, due to the vehicle heating up very quickly.

Finally, next Friday’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, cooler afternoon temperatures, rising to 65 to 70 degrees and scattered showers possible.
