RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -Quiet and slightly cooler weather will be making a return to the area for the next few days.

Skies will be fair tonight with the overnight lows falling back into the mid to upper 40s.

Onshore winds on Thursday will lead to a mixture of sunshine and clouds in the area.  It will bring our highs back into the middle 60s, which is still very nice for us.

At the same time, it looks like there will be a somewhat significant outbreak of severe storms starting in the Western Plains tomorrow.

This severe weather pattern will continue for a few days out there and will serve to help drive some very warm temperatures our way by the end of the weekend.

Friday, we will start off with sunshine and then see clouds building in the afternoon to our west.  Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s.

Partly sunny skies are on the way for Saturday as a warm front starts to lift through us.    Out in the mountains, there should be a slight chance of a shower later in the day.

This should mean a cool start to the Park 2 Park Half Marathon from Stuarts Draft to Waynesboro on Saturday.

Sunday, we are headed into the warm and should see a few days of highs in the 80s and possibly the mid 80s over the area.

A chance of showers will be possible on Tuesday afternoon/evening.
