COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Neighbors at an Austell townhome complex say their homes are flooding with sewage and are infested with bugs.
It’s been 2 days since neighbors at the Midwood Riverside Townhomes told Channel 2′s Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell they have been living in deplorable conditions. Since then, their living situations hasn’t gotten better.

Their situation became so bad that they called 911 and even the American Red Cross.
Many of the neighbors Newell spoke with told her they were forced to sleep inside of their own cars because they don’t feel safe living in the homes that they pay rent for.
“My neighbor actually slept in his car for two nights, I slept in mine for one,” said neighbor Stanley Dunbar.
Neighbors said raw sewage has been flooding their units for the past week and a half.

On Tuesday, neighbors said they saw dried up sewage and mold outside of the building. They tried to get get answers from management that same day, but never heard back.
Neighbors said a plumber eventually showed up to check things out but they are taking matters into their own hands.
Most of the residents impacted are staying in a hotel.
“The money that the red cross gave is maybe enough for a couple of days but after that I’m not really sure what I will do,” said neighbor Warren Wyatt.
“Their back is really up against the wall and they really do need help. We all need the help,” said Dunbar.
Newell tried contacting the management company again on Thursday, but no one answered.
