Move over Eat Fresh Refresh, low carb bread and even those craveable cookies. The new Subway Series is a huge menu overhaul that has 12 tasty reasons to enjoy another sub. But, will you know the right way to place that sub order?

The quick service restaurant space is continually evolving. From value menus to efficient drive-thrus, there are many aspects to keeping customers engaged. Even if that favorite menu item gets all the headlines, companies need to ensure that guests want to come back time and again.

With Subway, the brand has relied on offering value with its subs. Beyond the $5 footlong, guests want to know that every time that freshly baked bread will hold a flavorful bite. Even if food trends work their way into that plant-based meatball marinara, the familiar flavor is never far from reach.

How is the new Subway Series making guests hungry for more?

Although there have been new menu items over the years, the Subway Series is the “most ambitious undertaking in company history.” According to Trevor Haynes, President, North America at Subway. “Last summer’s Eat Fresh Refresh laid the foundation to build a better Subway, and now the Subway Series enhances the entire Subway guest experience – proof that we continue to improve and get way better. Whether you leave the sandwich-making to us or are craving your custom creation, there are more reasons than ever to make Subway your dining destination.”

As part of the new approach, there are now four categories on the menu, Cheesesteaks, Italianos, Chicken and Clubs. Here’s how the menu breaks down.

  • Cheesesteaks: #1 The Philly, #2 The Outlaw™, #3 The Monster™
  • Italianos: #4 Supreme Meats, #5 Bella Mozza, #6 The Boss
  • Chicken: #7 The MexiCali, #8 The Great Garlic™, #9 The Champ™
  • Clubs: #10 All-American Club®, #11 Subway Club®, #12 Turkey Cali Club™

Guests can order the subs by name or by number. Anyone who has ordered a combo meal at another quick service restaurant can see the similarities.

In some ways, that ordering simplicity seems to guide the new menu revamp. Making ordering quick and efficient is becoming more important for both the restaurant and consumer. For anyone who doesn’t stray too far into the customization lane will appreciate this approach.

Only time will tell if the new Subway Series drives home a win with guests. When a brand can achieve value, efficiency and a quality product, it will solidify customer loyalty one sub at a time.
