After the recent confusing and apparently contradictory statements from Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and the US consortium fronted by Peter Kenyon trying to take over the club, more has followed today.

One part of the group called KAM Sports LLC linked to main investor Maciek Kaminski, who along with his partners have been trying to acquire Everton, has been speaking and claims that contact between them and Moshiri is continuing but where that will lead is still unclear.

The consortium are then apparently continuing to talk to Moshiri or his representatives and so according to them the deal isn’t yet dead.

Keynon’s group say they wanted to keep things private and this has obviously not happened with various rumours and statements having become public in the past few weeks.

KAM Sports also say they ‘are the only show in town’ and that if Moshiri wants to sell the Blues’ he will need to deal with them, whether he wants to or not.

This is in contradiction to other media reports that have circulated recently and ever since this potential takeover emerged, claiming that several groups are interested in a possible deal to take control of the Toffees’.

Of course, this might just be a bit of PR from the American consortium designed to put further public pressure on Moshiri and try and persude him to come back to the negotiating table.

To be honest all this is getting more than a little confusing and frustrating and it seems that things need to be resolved one way or the other soon, as it isn’t in Everton’s interests to have this dragging on all summer.

Uncertainty of this kind could possibly end up affecting transfer policy and perhaps making it even harder to persuade players to join the club.

It does appear to be pretty clear that Moshiri is ready to sell up but for whatever reason at least according to his sources he’s decided this group is not the right one for him.

Well, if that’s the case then perhaps another group or individual might well emerge to try and secure owndership of the club in the next few weeks.

Maybe that’s already happening behind the scenes. After all that’s exactly what happened when Moshiri himself took control of Everton back in February 2016, as basically no one had heard of him until the deal was announced.

Whatever is happening, all this chaos and lack of clarity represents another potentially unwelcome distraction as manager Frank Lampard tries to reshape his squad with limited funds in a very competitive transfer market.
