Martin, Tenn.–A Lexington semi driver was killed and the second driver seriously injured in a fiery two-vehicle accident in Martin Friday.

Martin Police have released the names of the men in the crash, which occured on Main Street near OK Scrap.

Pronounced dead at the scene was Terry Mask, age 64, of Lexington, Tenn. who was trapped as his semi burst into flames. Joshua Tharp, age 34, of Greenfield, was driving a pickup truck and was airlifted with serious injuries.

According to the Martin Police report, Mask was driving a 2000 semi-trailer eastbound on Main St. and Tharp was driving a 2015 GMC pickup in the center turn lane, attempting to turn left into the drive at 1445 Main St.

The semi was partially in the center turn lane when it struck Tharp’s pickup in the front left side. The pickup was spun counter clockwise, coming to final rest at the area of impact, facing south.

The semi continued out of control, rupturing a fuel tank and running off the roadway to the left before coming to final rest against a tree. The semi then burst into flames with Mask trapped inside. Tharp also was trapped in his pickup truck. After he was extricated, he was airlifted to an area hospital.
