Genie was the daughter of Fred Bordelon and Eloise Dupre of Ville Platte. After graduating from Sacred Heart School in Ville Platte and then Dominican College in New Orleans, she returned to Evangeline Parish, married Jake Ardoin in 1957, and became a mother and farmer’s wife in the Vidrine community. She was very dedicated to her faith and community, as she served as a catechism teacher for many years, cared for the sick through Hospice, and prayed weekly with her Rosary group. Also, the Ville Platte Garden Club, Cleanest City Contest program, and the Sacred Heart School Foundation all benefited from her time and talents. Genie was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.
Genie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 63 years, Jake, and by two of her siblings, Luke Bordelon, M.D. and Freida Martinez Mayeux. She is survived by her four children, Gregory Ardoin, M.D. and his wife, Erin, of Lafayette, Ginger Landreneau and her husband, Ricky, of Ville Platte, Sara A. Whitney of Lafayette, and Amy Poché and her husband, Andy, of Ville Platte; along with her sister, Hazel Pud Fontenot and her husband, Buck, of Baton Rouge; her sister-in-law, Eugenia Bordelon, of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
Her family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sacred Heart School Foundation and Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, or prayers and Masses for the repose of her soul and the consolation of her family.
