Another 15 Ubisoft Games Lose Mulitplayer, Online Features in September

Games on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U are affected, but one may survive thanks to its developer.

July 5, 2022

Ubisoft is set to turn off the online servers for another 15 games on Sept. 1.

Back in April, Ubisoft announced 90 games were set to lose access to online multiplayer, player stats, unlockable content, and rewards, but it turns out the publisher wasn't finished. In what looks set to become a regular occurrence, another 15 titles will suffer the online chop in a couple of months.

The games affected by what Ubisoft calls a "decommissioning of online services," include:

  • Anno 2070 - (PC)

  • Assassin's Creed II - (PC, PS3)

  • Assassin's Creed 3 (2012 Release) - (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U)

  • Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

  • Assassin's Creed Liberation HD - (PC)

  • Assassin's Creed Revelations - (PS3, Xbox 360)

  • Driver San Francisco - (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

  • Far Cry 3 (2012 Release) - (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

  • Ghost Recon Future Soldier - (PS3, Xbox 360)

  • Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - (PC)

  • Rayman Legends - (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U)

  • Silent Hunter 5 - (PC)

  • Space Junkies - (PC VR)

  • Splinter Cell: Blacklist - (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

  • ZombiU - (Wii U)

In the case of Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3, it's only the original version of each game that is impacted, not their more recent remasters.

For every game listed, you'll be unable to play multiplayer, link Ubisoft accounts in-game, or access any online features a game currently has. In some cases the associated DLC will no longer be available to download and install. With that being the case, it's best to download and install DLC packs now so you have access to the content before the servers are turned off in September.

As Eurogamer reports, Anno 2070 may continue to enjoy access to its online features thanks the team at Ubisoft Mainz in Germany. In an announcement on the Anno Union website, the developer said, "after an initial investigation, we have decided to dedicate some of our development resources to work on upgrading Anno 2070’s aged online services infrastructure to a new system, so that these features can continue to be used past the mentioned date."

They go on to say, "we cannot yet guarantee that we’ll be able to successfully upgrade/replace the old services as we’d like to," but it seems likely at least some of the online features will continue to be available thanks to the work they decided to do on a game that's nearly 11 years old.
