Crews arrived and found several people heavily entrapped in a vehicle that was upside down and wrapped around a tree, according to Alpha Fire Company Chief Scott Small. Crews flapped the roof of the car, and removed both driver's side doors, Small said. The initial dispatch reported the car was on fire, but the vehicle was not on fire when crews arrived, Small said. All five patients were taken to trauma centers in unknown condition, Small said, with four going by ground ambulance and one going by medical helicopter. Two medical helicopters were initially called to the scene, but one helicopter only evaluated a patient before leaving.Small said the extrication was difficult due to the way the vehicle struck the tree roof-first.

State police said the vehicle struck several bushes, overturned in the air and hit the tree.
