Time for a quick check on some of the New York Yankees’ top prospects.
Shortstop Anthony Volpe remains on fire for the Double-A Somerset Patriots. Per MLB.com:
With a hit and a walk in Double-A Somerset’s win over Bowie on Monday, Anthony Volpe extended his on-base streak to 15 games. He went 1-for-3 and added his 33rd stolen base on the season, which matches his total from 2021 in nearly half the games. In three July games, he’s 4-for-10 with four walks and three stolen bases.

By the end of May, the Patriots shortstop was hitting .209, a career-low for him at any level in organized baseball. But heading into play Tuesday, his average is up to .247 with 11 home runs.
Volpe is the Yankees’ No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Also working on his on-base percentage is outfielder Jasson Dominguez. Per MLB.com:
Jasson Dominguez kept his on-base streak going on Monday, extending it to seven games with a walk and a single for Single-A Tampa. Dominguez ended the night 1-for-3 and scored a run in the opening frame. Dominguez is hitting just .111 so far in July, but has reached base at a .385 clip.
Dominguez is hitting .257 with with eight home runs for the Single-A Tampa Tarpons. He is the Yankees’ No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

And that brings us to outfielder Estevan Florial, who hit his 10th home run of the season Monday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. According to RailRiders PR, “Florial has homered five times in his last seven games. He had hit five home runs in all of May and June combined.” The power surge has boosted Florial’s batting average to .308.
UPDATE (9:12 a.m): The RailRiders report Florial was named Minor League Player of the Week for the International League.
Florial hit .550, playing in all six games with 11 hits over 20 at bats. He his four home runs, including two on Saturday night, drove in seven, scored ten times and stole three bases while helping pace the RailRiders’ offense to a series sweep against Buffalo.
Florial also has 26 stolen bases this season, which leads the International League. RailRiders PR says Florial is on pace for 51 steals this year, which would be a team record (Tommy Barrett had 44 in 1989).
Florial is the Yankees’ No. 29 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
