Bucks County Community College and Bucks County Opportunity Council are strengthening their partnership by kickstarting a new “Coaches on Campus” initiative.

The latest collaboration will integrate BCOC with BCCC’s Student Services division. Economic Self-Sufficiency coaches will be at the Newtown campus two times a week to provide coaching, financial support, and resources to students who are already making progress in bettering their education and futures.

“The key to gaining self-sufficiency is acquiring the additional education and training necessary to earn a living wage,” said Erin Lukoss, BCOC’s Executive Director. “This partnership will allow BCOC staff to directly assist students by meeting them where they are.”

“Having BCOC’s ES Coaches on campus, allows for our Student Services staff to make direct referrals right across the hall which greatly reduces barriers that would otherwise get in the way of Bucks students accessing community-based services,” said Dr. Dekia Smith, BCCC’s Interim Dean of Students.

BCCC and BCOC have previously collaborated on raising funds for the Gateway to Self-Sufficiency Scholarship, which is open to BCCC students that join the Economic Self-Sufficiency program offered by BCOC. So far more than 40 students have received this scholarship.
