The Wildlife Nature Series with the Dallas County Conservation Board will soon begin at the Voas Nature Area in Minburn.

Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says the series will be put on by Naturalist Erica Northwick and she will focus on multiple animals throughout the summer. Gilchrist talks about the first program on July 12th and 16th.

“That one will feature opossums plus some other animals. She will be bringing out furs and skulls and other visuals to learn about opossums and actually has some myth-busting facts and things to teach us about.”

Gilchrist tells Raccoon Valley Radio the reason behind the Board wanting to offer the programming on multiple days throughout the summer which can be a busy time for families.

“The programs are each offered on a Tuesday and Saturday morning so they can have an opportunity for families that might otherwise have to miss a weekday program due to daycare and work and that kind of thing. All of those programs are good for all ages; they are not just focused on kids.”
