Governor appoints committee to consider status of indicted Hart Co Commissioner

Charges stem from alleged assault

Governor Brian Kemp has issued an executive order appointing a review commission to look into the case of indicted Hart County Commissioner Ricky Carter. At issue is whether Carter can continue to serve on the Commission in Hartwell. Carter and his son are charged in the alleged assault of the Commissioner’s brother-in-law, an attack that happened back in March.

Carter has already lost his bid for reelection but will continue in his role on the Commission until the end of the year unless he is removed from office by the Governor.

The review commission appointed by Governor Kemp includes state Attorney General Chris Carr, Elbert County Commissioner Lee Vaughn, and Madison County Commissioner Terry Chandler.
