Business owners in Fells Point were holding their breath Monday afternoon hoping for a peaceful Fourth of July.
The area has seen it's share of violence in the past months and some businesses closed for the holiday.
"So many people chose to close today, they just said 'enough'," said Beth Hawks, owner of Zelda Zen in Fells Point.
Business was unusually slow, according to Hawks.
"People are hesitant to come to Baltimore city because of the absolute lawlessness," said Hawks
Officers turned out in force throughout the area vowing to keep the peace during Monday nights fireworks display.
However, it was little comfort to some visitors.
"It's going to get crazy, it's going to get real crazy" said a 21-year old who didn't care to be identified.
"When you hear boom, boom, boom, you don't know if it's a gunshot or not," he said.
