If you're trying to avoid all of the traffic in downtown Washington D.C. on the Fourth of July, 7News is On Your Side with a way to watch the fireworks Monday night from the comfort of your own home, right here on wjla.com.
The National Park Service will host the annual Independence Day fireworks celebration, launching from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, starting at 9:09 p.m.
This event commemorates Americans and significant events that reflect the nation’s history.
After the fireworks ended, people watching from the National Mall have had a long wait to board a Metro train at the Smithsonian Station.
WATCH: Tom Roussey talks with people on the Mall who loved the fireworks but were dismayed by the long lines for the Metro:
For those headed downtown expect large crowds as this is the first year the fireworks show is back in full gear following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Expect longer lines at the Metro Monday. Click here for more information about Metro travel this Independence day weekend.
A number of roads are also closed downtown as the city prepares for the celebrations. A full list is here.
And if you do head out, share your fireworks photos with us. Upload them here.
