Colorado State Patrol responds to a deadly crash involving a semi
CUSTER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado 69 was closed for seven and a half hours after a semi rolled over.
Colorado State Patrol (CSP) says that a semi-truck and trailer were headed northbound on Colorado 69 just south of Westcliffe on July 2, 2022.
Near milepost 50, the semi rolled and crushed a Lincoln then struck a Toyota Tacoma. CSP says that alcohol is not considered a factor but speed is being looked into.
The driver of the semi was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the Lincoln was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a 60-year-old Westcliffe resident. The 28-year-old male driving the Toyota was transported to Parkview with moderate injuries. His 27-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries.
CSP had the highway closed for almost eight hours following the crash to clean up the semi's cargo.
