Bre Hurd, a Class of 2024 girls' basketball standout at Waynesville, has committed to former Missouri State Lady Bears coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton at the University of Virginia.

Hurd was recruited by "Coach Mox" when she was the head coach of the Lady Bears. Agugua-Hamilton was among the first to extend an offer to the 6-foot-2 forward. Hurd also held an offer from Mizzou.

Hurd is coming off a sophomore season in which she averaged 22.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. She was a Class 6 all-state selection.

At one point, Hurd was considered one of the top high school prospects in the 2024 class with a five-star rating. Updated rankings by espnW have her as a three-star athlete but her ceiling remains high. She's considered the No. 1 Missouri recruit in the Class of 2024, according to Prep Girls Hoops.

Hurd should remain among the top players in the area and the Ozark Conference these next two years. With Bella Fontleroy (Kickapoo; Baylor) and Ashton Judd (West Plains; Mizzou) graduated and out of the conference, expectations will be high for Hurd and Waynesville.

Hurd is the second player who Agugua-Hamilton actively recruited at Missouri State to commit to her at Virginia. She joins Cady Pauley, who was once signed to play at Missouri State and is now signed to play at Virginia.
