Iowa driver dies after crashing through front window of home
CONDUCTED. IN HAMILTON COUNTY A MAN WAS KILLED IN A CRASH WHEN A CAR FLEW INTO A HOME JUST EAST OF WEBSTER CITY. KCCI. SCOTT CARPENTER WENT THERE TO SEE HOW THIS BIZARRE CRASH PLAYED OUT. WILL THE DRIVER RAN THIS STOP SIGN AT THIS T INTERSECTION HIS SPEED CARRIED HIM ACROSS THE STREET WHERE HE HIT THE DITCH AND THEN LANDED IN THE LIVING ROOM OF THIS HOUSE. I’VE BEEN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR 28 YEARS, AND I’VE NOT SEEN A CRASH TO THIS MAGNITUDE THIS USUALLY QUIET INTERSECTION IN HAMILTON COUNTY IS NOW LINKED TO A MEMORY FIRST RESPONDERS WILL NEVER FORGET HAMILTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVED A 911 CALL SHORTLY AFTER 8 O’CLOCK SATURDAY MORNING. WHEN DEPUTIES ARRIVED THEY FOUND 32 YEAR OLD. JORIE LINCOLN TRAPPED IN HIS CAR. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. WE’RE THINKING SPEED OBVIOUSLY WAS AN ISSUE AND WE DON’T KNOW THE REST OF RIGHT NOW UNTIL THE INVESTIGATIONS COMPLETED THE HOMEOWNERS WERE NOT HOME AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. SOMEBODY CLOSE TO THEM SAYS THE CRASH HAPPENED HOURS BEFORE 911 CALL WAS MADE. WELL, IT’S KIND OF SAID THAT YOU KNOW TO SEE MORNING YOUR FRIENDS GO LINCOLN WAS WELL KNOWN IN THE COMMUNITY NANCY CAPUTO KNOWS HIS FAMILY. I KNOW. HURTING HARD THEY GOT TO BE HURTING HARD AND THAT HURTS ME, YOU KNOW TO HEAR ABOUT THIS IN THIS TOWN SHERIFF TIMMIN SAYS IT’S IMPORTANT TO TAKE IT SLOW ON THE ROADS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S DARK. HE SAYS THIS ONE IT’S A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO HOME. THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES FOR EVERYBODY, YOU KNOW OUR FIRST RESPONDERS TIGHT-KNIT COMMUNITY. Iowa driver dies after crashing through front window of home
One man is dead after the car he was driving crashed through the front window of an Iowa residence on Saturday morning, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The crash was reported east of Webster City on 220th Street and Neely Avenue. According to the Patrol, 32-year-old Jory Lanken, of Kamrar, failed to stop at a stop sign, entered a ditch and went airborne before going through the front window of a home, located at 2281 220th St.The house is owned by James and Patty Walker. No one was home at the time of the crash.The car, a 2006 Pontiac G6, came to rest in the living room.Lanken was trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene."I've been in law enforcement for 28 years and I have not seen a crash of this magnitude," said Doug Timmons, Hamilton County Sheriff.Lanken was well known in the community. Timmons says this crash hits a little to close to home. "Think about the consequences for everybody, our first responders. It's a tight knit community. Everybody knows everybody," said Timmons. "You go to a car accident, you see who it is and if it's a Hamilton County resident, we all know them."The Iowa State Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash.More news:
