The Fourth of July weekend was no deterrent for violent crime on Sunday as a man attempted to steal an RTA bus in New Orleans.

It happened at about 11:40 a.m. in the 7700 block of Grant Street. The NOPD says Terrance Johnson was arrested after he approached the female bus driver as she was loading a passenger onboard. They say he attempted to steal the bus but the woman refused and Johnson then fled the scene on foot. No weapon was used in the attempted theft of the bus.

The violence did not stop there on Sunday. Police say three men with guns carjacked a man in the 1000 block of Chimney Wood Lane.

According to police, three armed men, one armed with a rifle and two armed with handguns, approached the male victim from behind and demanded his keys. The victim complied and the subjects fled in the victim's 2021 silver Chevrolet Traverse. The vehicle was recovered a short time later via OnStar.

Then an armed robbery happened in the 3100 block of Chartres Street. Police say two women were walking down Chartres Street when two men exited a minivan armed with a rifle, the other armed with a pistol. The subjects demanded the woman’s property. The victims complied and the subjects then fled.
