FORT BRAGG, N.C. — This July Fourth was extra special for some Fort Bragg families. About 230 soldiers returned home from Poland Sunday, according to WTVD.

They’re some of the 4,700 troops that were deployed as part of the United States’ efforts to bolster NATO in deterring Russian aggression in Ukraine.

For families, this was a long time coming.

Many of the soldiers had been away from home for more than 100 days.

“There was a lot of postponing. So, we really had no idea of how long this was going to be,” said Linnette Reyes, whose husband returned from deployment. “So finally, when we found out yesterday for sure this was happening today, my husband’s birthday’s today. And he’s turning 33. So, this is really big for all of us. Just to be able to celebrate with him, his birthday, his homecoming, Fourth of July. We’re just so blessed to be together today.”
