An armed suspect was arrested by police Sunday after an incident in a Chico neighborhood.
Chico Police officers responded to the 1400 Block of E. Lassen Avenue in Chico after getting a 911 call where the caller said a man was pounding on the front door armed with a handgun.
The man left in a truck but was spotted by responding officers who performed a high-risk traffic stop in the parking lot of the7-Eleven on East Avenue.
They contacted the man driving, later identified as Tyler Barney, 35.
During their investigation, officers said they discovered that Barney was illegally transporting a loaded gun in his car.
As officers continued their investigation, they went on to discover a second handgun in the vehicle.
Officers also responded to the 400 block of Posada Way for a location associated with Barney.
Ultimately, Officers seized the two handguns, a shotgun and two assault rifles, the CPD said.
The rifles were mail-order kit rifles, commonly referred to as 'ghost guns' that have no serial numbers or markings. High capacity magazines and other parts were also found, according to police.
Barney was arrested for various weapons related charges to include possession of an assault weapon.
