Memorial benefit ride, raffle to benefit family of fallen Nicholas County deputy

NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) —
A memorial benefit ride and raffle will be conducted in Nicholas County with all proceeds going to benefit a fallen deputy’s family.

The benefit ride in remembrance of Tom Baker is scheduled Aug. 20, according to a flier promoting the event. Registration and the raffle begins at 9 a.m., with the ride starting at 11 a.m.
Parking and the raffle will be at 3005 W. Webster Road in Summersville at the old Big Lots parking lot. The cost to participate in the benefit ride is $20 per buggy.
Baker was killed in a shootout with two armed suspects during a disturbance investigation on June 3. Another deputy, Cpl. Joshua Ellison, was injured in the incident.
