Thousands remain without power after severe storms thrashed Tri-State

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Wednesday’s severe storms knocked out power to more than 100,000 Duke Energy customers in Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
Duke Energy reports 19,000 customers are without power as of 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
Crews worked overnight to continue power restoration and will be aided Thursday by additional workers from the company’s Indiana service territory.
FOX19 viewers reported widespread damage with tree limbs and power lines down across the Tri-State.
“This is not going to be what I would envision to be a quick fix,” Duke Energy spokesperson Sally Thelen said. ‘Crew will be working throughout the day on the outages.”
Customers are urged to avoid downed power lines and to assume they are energized. Downed lines should be reported to 800.543.5599.

Keeping customers informed
Duke Energy will provide estimated power restoration times for specific counties – once those estimates have been determined – at duke-energy.com/outages/current-outages.

The National Weather Service reported an EF-2 tornado in the Goshen area around 2:30 p.m.
The Goshen Fire Department took “a direct hit,” according to Fire Chief Stephen Pegram.
Thursday will be just about as hot, and the humidity will be high again, pushing the heat index to 100° or higher. But thunderstorms should not be as strong.
