SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - (Updated 7/5/2022) An Excessive Heat Warning is now in effect through Wednesday for the St. Louis Metro area as heat index values are expected to rise to 110. The National Weather Service says a Heat Advisory continues for surrounding areas in Illinois and Missouri with a possibility of heat index values over 105 degrees.
Portions of south central, southwest, and west central Illinois and central, east central, northeast, and southeast Missouri will be continue to be impacted by the heat and humidity moving in from the south. Forecasters say the dangerous heat could continue into Thursday and Friday.
The Heat Advisory takes effect at noon on the 4th and continues through Wednesday evening. Temperatures could hit 102 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, with the heat index pushing as high as 110 degrees by Wednesday afternoon.
