Things to do: Sing with Vince Gill, laugh with 85 South, Brian Regan this week in Augusta

This week's entertainment in Augusta brings in the country sounds of superstar Vince Gill as well as a tribute show to jazz siren Sade. Laughs are in store with 85 South at James Brown Arena and Brian Regan on stage at Bell Auditorium. Plus it's time for another Food Truck Friday and outdoor movie nights, too. Here's a roundup of happenings from July 5-10.

85 South brings their comedy show to James Brown Arena at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7.

Need a laugh? Then it's a great time for some comedy.

Comedians DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller and Clayton English are bringing their 85 South Show Return of the Ghetto Legends Tour to James Brown Arena at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7. The show boasts more than 2 million subscribers on YouTube. Tickets start at $35 at aectix.com.

Then on Saturday, July 9, comedian Brian Regan returns to Bell Auditorium at 7 p.m. Regan has been performing for more than three decades and can be seen in the "Loudermilk" TV series on Amazon Prime. Tickets start at $48.50 at aectix.com.

Vince Gill in Augusta

Vince Gill performs at Augusta's Bell Auditorium on Sunday, July 10.

Vince Gill takes the Bell Auditorium stage at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 10. This country superstar was inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007 thanks to a career with multiple County Music Association awards including Single and Song of the Year for "When I Call Your Name." He's a songwriter, a composer, and, well Augusta native Amy Grant's husband, too. (Grant was just at the Miller Theater for a concert in May.) Tickets for the Gill show are $59.50-$99.50 at aectix.com.

Think back now to the mid-1980s and the sultry sounds of Sade. Her hits including "Smooth Operator" and "Your Love is King" can be heard live at Hardin Auditorium at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 9, during The Sade Experience performed by Julia Foster. The night's opening act will be Augusta's Perfect Picture Band. Tickets are $20 on eventbrite.com

Food trucks and movie nights

It's time for another Food Truck Friday on July 8 at Gateway Park in Grovetown. From 6-9 p.m. choose dinner options from food vendors while enjoying live music and the outdoors. Music starts at 7 p.m.

The Harlem Summer Family Movie Night Series continues on the Harlem Library lawn. July 8 will feature "Spider-Man No Way Home" and "Jurassic World" is the big draw for July 22. Admission is free. Movies start at sundown.

Mosaic Church, at 478 Columbia Industrial Park in Evans, will hold a Family Movie Night on Saturday, July 9, showing the Netflix film "A Week Away." The show starts at 7 p.m. with popcorn and candy available. Bring a chair or blanket.

Last chance

North Augusta's "Music in the Park" series at Maude Edenfield Park on Brookside Avenue has only two shows left this season. The next concert is at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, and will feature the Augusta Broadway Singers and Les Reagan’s vocal group. On July 14, hear the Chris Ndeti Trio.

These shows aren't happening until August, but tickets are going fast for the final edition of Ed Turner and Number 9. After 17 years of performing classic rock shows, this group comprised of Augusta-area musicians will present "The End of an Error": two final shows showcasing songs by The Beatles on Aug. 12 and 13.
