At least four homes were damaged by a tornado early Monday morning, according to the Grand Island and Hall County Emergency Management Department.
We made contact with all four residents," said a tweet from the agency. "Those homes are located east of South Locust Street and south of Husker Highway in Hall County, southeast of Grand Island."
No injuries were reported.
Rosenlund calls this a no warning event.
"Nearly all warning messages were lagging in Hall County on this storm due to circumstance of the storm," said a statement. "It appears that the first 2-3 homes were struck prior to evidence being found of the tornado, but the fourth home did have prior notice and time to seek shelter."
Hall County Emergency Management reported damages included:
- Minor damage to rood trim of a detached garage
- Window and siding damage
- Loss of an attached garage
- A farmstead where the home suffered only superficial damage to the electrical service connection.
The National Weather Service in Hastings headed out to survey the damage Monday morning.
“There were a few areas that began to develop some rotation and one of those areas tighten up and began to produce a tornado generally just south, southeast of the city of Grand Island," said Jordan Theis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Hastings.
“Preliminary damage assessment is consistent with an EF-1 rated tornado and preliminary wind speed estimates are in that 105-110 mile per hour range," said Mike Moritz, Warning Coordinator Meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Hastings.
