Stone County man arrested after brandishing weapons with juveniles

Fifty-five-year-old Clifton Lee Carpenter has been arrested after witnesses provided video evidence of Carpenter and two juveniles threatening them with weapons.

According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence along Highway 14 East in Stone County for a disturbance with three males weilding weapons.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with one victim who stated the aggressors were allegedly threatening him and his son. Deputies approached the residence to make contact with Carpenter, while another spoke with the son.

Deputies identified the occupants of the residence to be Carpenter and two juveniles aged 14 and 15.

After reviewing the footage of videos taken from the victims, deputies observed Carpenter with a pistol holstered on his side allegedly making threats to kill them. While Carpenter was making threats, he allegedly gestured towards his firearm and held it in his right hand.

Deputies state also in the video, 14-year-old juvenile held an axe while the 15-year-old held a rifle.

After reviewing all evidence, deputies made an attempt to place Carpenter under arrest as he fled into his house. Deputies pursued Carpenter into the house where he continued to resist.

According to deputies they utilized the least amount of force necessary to maintain and gain control of Carpenter.

He was then placed in restraints and transported to the Stone County Detention Center.
