Edgeworth Council

Leet commissioners

Leet commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. July 11 at the township office, 194 Ambridge Ave. Go to leettownship.org for more information about township activities.

Leetsdale Council

Leetsdale Council will meet at 7 p.m. July 14 at the borough building, 373 Beaver St. More information about borough activities is available at leetsdaleboro.net.

Sewickley Sundae 5K

Christmas in July kicks off with the Sewickley Sundae 5K at 10 a.m. July 24. The event is sponsored by the Sewickley Chamber of Commerce and Sewickley Confectionary. All ages and abilities are welcome. Proceeds benefit the Keep the Lights on Project. Preregister at eventbrite.com.

Summer Movie Night

Sewickley Academy will hold a movie night open to the public on Wardrop Field. “Moana” will be shown July 21. The night will begin with yard games at 7 p.m. and the film will be shown at dusk. Guests should bring their own picnic basket and blanket. A popcorn machine will be available. The films will be shown weather permitting. For more information, visit sewickley.org.

Hard-to-recycle event

Pennsylvania Resources Council will hold a hard-to-recycle collection July 23 at Quaker Valley High School in Leetsdale. For a fee, individuals can drop off televisions and computer monitors, printers, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances and tires (with and without rims). At no cost, individuals can drop off cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, video game consoles/DVD players and glass bottles, jugs and jars.

Participants must register in advance at prc.org/CollectionEvents or by calling 412-488-7490 ext. 1.

Senior Men’s Club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will host the Mars Rovers Barbershop Quartet on July 8 at the YMCA.

The Senior Men’s Club picnic will take place July 15 at Moon Park. On July 22, the club will host the Sewickley Valley Historical Society ­­­— Mary Beth Pastorus will discuss historical architecture in the Sewickley Valley. On July 29, the topic will be the United States Coast Guard Station Pittsburgh and USCG Osage river operations.

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet July 6 at the Eat’n Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Speakers will be Bill Baierl of Palmetto Solar Energy and Rusty Woodley of First National Bank.
