Cleburne County authorities responded to a drowning at Greers Ferry lake early Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement from Sheriff Chris Brown, deputies, along with Cleburne County Search and Rescue divers, responded to a call around 12:30 p.m. involving a teenage male.

Brown said dispatch had been notified the male had jumped into the lake off of Trouble Island and had not resurfaced.

Divers arrived on scene and later recovered the body of the teenager. The sheriff says the identity is not being released at this time.

This is the second drowning on Greers Ferry Lake this season. A 21-year-old Memphis man died in a drowning at Damsite Park on June 6.
