Police responded to at least six shootings overnight across Boston, in which at least 10 people were wounded.According to officials, the shootings occurred in Mattapan, Dorchester, Roxbury, Hyde Park and the South End."Investigations are underway and my heart goes out to the family members and all those who are impacted by unnecessary and unacceptable violence in our city," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said when she was asked about the violence on Monday morning. "We are working every day to make sure that Boston is a city where everyone is supported, connected to opportunity, and ensure accountability for what happened."The violence started just before 10:45 p.m. Sunday with a shooting on Woodbole Avenue in Mattapan. Boston EMS confirms the was one person transported to an area hospital from that scene. Police said the victim was a juvenile male.While responding to that scene, officers spotted a vehicle leaving the area. After failing to stop initially the vehicle stopped at St. James Street where officers found the driver, an adult male, was also suffering from a gunshot wound. A firearm was found in the vehicle, police said.At 12:15 a.m., adult male victims were found shot in the area of Washington Street and Bailey Street. Police said another victim made his own way to the hospital from this shooting. A total of three people were injured in this shooting, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Officers next were sent to 37 Monsignor Reynolds Way in response to a report of a shooting at 1:16 a.m., where officers found a wounded adult male. The injuries were considered non-life-threatening. The sound of gunshots brought officers to the area of 17 Elizabeth St. at approximately 2:19 a.m., where officers found one adult male with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Minutes later, at 2:23 a.m., police say a shooting victim walked into Boston Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Lastly, officers responded to a report of gunshots in the area of 195 Garfield Ave. at approximately 4:57 a.m. They found spent shell casings and spent illegal fireworks.The officers also encountered an adult woman who was grazed by a bullet that entered her home. She was treated on scene and refused transportation to the hospital. The victim told WCVB a bullet pierced the wall by her headboard and grazed her arm. It hit the wall just inches from her head."Guns are too easy to acquire in other states and too many of those guns are coming into Boston and ending up in the hands of people too willing to use them," said Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden. "The recent Supreme Court decision could make this illegal flow of guns even worse. I know I stand with all law enforcement partners in working to reduce gun violence, but the effort has to include all of us, not just police and prosecutors."According to data published by the Boston Police Department last week, shootings in the city are down so far this year when compared to 2021. The total number of shooting victims from Jan. 1 through Jun. 26 was 87 in 2021 and is 67 so far in 2022.
