Whether it’s providing companionship to a person in the final months and weeks of their life, offering support to family members and caregivers, working in an office or clerical setting or assisting with special events, volunteers provide an important role in hospice care.

MyMichigan Home Care is accepting hospice volunteers in the Alma, Clare, Gladwin, Isabella, Midland and Montcalm areas, as well as for Woodland Hospice House.

Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the hospice care team. Volunteers provide physical and emotional support during an important and stressful time in the lives of patients and their families. Caring for a terminally ill loved one can be exhausting and volunteers can provide opportunities to get away for a much-needed break.

A virtual volunteer training will be held on Thursday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteer trainees must attend both sessions.

Those who are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer may apply at www.mymichigan.org/volunteers/hospice, or contact Cindy Lutz, MyMichigan Home Care’s volunteer coordinator, at (989) 633-1467.
