Happy Fourth of July! It was a hot but bearable day today for the holiday, but the rest of the week will be anything but.

Overnight into Tuesday will be the start to some very warm and humid nights. Temperatures only drop into the low to mid 70s across the area, with clouds picking up through the overnight as well. A few showers may be possible late in the night into early Tuesday, but right now those chances remain low.

Tuesday will be a hot and humid day, but also potentially a stormy day. In all honesty, forecast models have not been consistent with anything regarding Tuesday. Some have storms early in the day and then again later. Others have storms only during the midday hours, while others have limited storms. Either way, the atmosphere will be primed for storms, we will just be looking for one ingredient to get things going and that is lift.

The morning showers and storms Tuesday should clear by 9 a.m. and from there we will be mostly clear to partly cloudy before the potential evening round moves in. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire Tri-State in a Slight Risk for severe storms. That is risk level 2 out of 5. Right now, the main impacts from storms look to be damaging winds and large hail, but we can’t rule out the possibility for an isolated tornado or two. We may also see some very heavy downpours within these storms, which create a risk for some flooding. If we see afternoon storms, the timing would more likely after 5 p.m.

On top of the storms, the major news Tuesday will be the high heat and humidity. High temperatures are back into the low to mid 90s, but with the humidity it will feel more like 100°+. Feels like temperatures could be as high as 106° in some areas. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. A Heat Advisory has been issued for much of the Tri-State, but with humidity levels really climbing I wouldn't be surprised if we see an Excessive Heat Warning later this week.

Wednesday will bring a threat for severe weather as well. We are also in Slight Risk from the SPC.

From there, every day during the week will be similar. Hot and humid, feels like temperatures at or above 100°, and a chance at storms. Wednesday looks like the hottest day of the week with feels like temperatures between 104° and 108°. We won’t catch a break from any of that until later in the weekend.
