BISMARCK, ND – The Willmar Stingers defeated the Bismarck Larks tonight, 4-2.

The game got started with the Larks getting a run across in the bottom of the first. Garrett Macias hit an RBI double sending home Jackson Beaman from first.

The game became a pitcher’s battle as Bismarck’s Morgan McCloud and Willmar’s Jack Habeck didn’t give up a run for the next four innings.

The Stingers were able to produce another big inning in the sixth as they captured their first lead of the series scoring four runs. They scored all four runs after the first two batters of the inning became the first two outs.

The bases were loaded after Zac Corbin took advantage of a late throw from Lark’s third baseman Kadien Cardoso. The very next batter, Aidan Byrne was able to get a runner home on an E5 from Cardoso that tied the game at one. A wild pitch would send home another runner and Jake Entrekin hit a double with runners on second and third to make the game 4-1. Entrekin would be named the MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game for his 2-4, 2 RBI performance.

The Larks would score in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap 4-2, however, no more runs would come home giving the Stingers the victory.

Jack Habeck won his fifth game of the year which puts him at the top of the Northwoods Leagues in that category. Dylan Matlea secured his third save on the year in a two-inning effort.

The Stingers move to 19-13 on the year putting them 1.5 games in front of the Mankato MoonDogs for second place in the Great Plains West. The Bismarck Larks fall to 11-21 as they are looking to build momentum to compete in the second half.

The third game of the series takes place tomorrow at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
